Russian-English and English-Russian translation services
Our aim is to deliver translations to a high standard. That calls for an understanding of idioms of both languages.
An example is the English phrase "... it's like painting the Forth Bridge".
A translator who failed to recognise the phrase as an idiom might render it as "... it's like painting a picture of the 4th. bridge".
A better translator might produce a correct literal translation which added detail in an attempt to clarify, but still lost the author's original meaning of the phrase e.g. "applying a new coat of paint to the railway bridge over the Firth of Forth".
Our aim is to do better. We would aim to render the meaning into Russian, something like: "it's a never-ending task". Alternatively we might substitute a closely equivalent Russian idiom.
We prefer to receive documents for translation in electronic format as plain text or in Microsoft Word format.
Translations can be provided in either direction, Russian to English or English to Russian and will be proof read by a native Russian or English speaker.
Translations will normally be returned in electronic (MS Word) format and/or as printouts, however we can provide alternatives such as spoken audio MP3 files or alternative document formats on request.
You can choose as to whether we reproduce the original formatting or just provide the textual translation. Your translation style preferences will be taken into consideration (on the scale of direct literal translation to a literary style where the aim is to convey aspects like mood, atmosphere, historical period...)
